ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

Maburra respectfully acknowledges all Custodians of the land on which we journey, honoring their enduring presence, resilience, and wisdom. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past, present, and emerging, and recognize the strength of those who will lead our future.

476 First Nations women murdered since 1989. We are 8x more likely to go missing, 34x more likely to be hospitalised, and 6x more likely to die from family violence. This is a national crisis. #EndTheCrisisNow

Maburra is a proudly 100% Indigenous-owned national consultancy committed to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through culturally grounded services, programs, and advocacy. Our core focus is on education, awareness, and informed action around domestic and family violence (DFV).

At Maburra, we are driven by a mission to empower communities to lead change—through co-designed, trauma-informed, and person-centred approaches. We work in genuine partnership with communities to design, develop, and deliver solutions that reflect local strengths, cultural priorities, and healing pathways.

The name Maburra comes from the Wulgurukaba language and means “woman.” It represents our vision: to uplift and support women, families, and communities through community-led transformation—now and for generations to come.

Our Programs

All Maburra programs are designed to be delivered within community, in collaboration with local leaders, services, and organisations. We offer flexible, negotiated pricing to ensure our programs are accessible and tailored to your organisation's capacity.

Where possible, we prioritise face-to-face consultation to strengthen relationships and uphold cultural integrity. When travel is not feasible, we use technology and culturally responsive methods to ensure meaningful engagement.

Our programs are grounded in:

Trauma-informed practice
Person-centred care
Indigenous healing frameworks

We do not believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Each program is contextualised to reflect the unique needs, values, and aspirations of the community we are working with. Our goal is to provide empowering, sustainable, and transformative solutions led by the people they are designed for.

Maburra Management Consultancy delivers culturally responsive services tailored for organisations working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Healing

Everyday I choose healing for my heart, mind, body and spirit.  I work through the darkness in my life and I am able to find stars.

I heal in my own time and I am gentle with myself everyday.

I forgive myself and take responsibility for the hurt in my past.

My heart maybe broken but I choose to fill the cracks with love and gentleness.

connecting communities to create change

Our Experience

There are a number of reforms, policies, reports and discussions around the importance of healing within Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities.  Despite this, our incidences of domestic & family violence have risen.  Our women are still being killed, harmed, sexually assaulted & traumatised.  Our children are still being taken away.  Our men are still being locked up.  Our experience is that this needs to change.  Our communities need to be leaders in driving this change.  Maburra Management Consultancy (MMC) is leading change to support our communities to develop programs, services & supports that embed healing as a way forward, to identify & address trauma impacts, on our women, our men, our children & within our communities & work environments.  Maburra is working to create opportunities & to create transformational change.

Our Approach

Maburra is informed by our knowledge & application of trauma-informed practice & person-centred care & approach.  Our programs, services & supports are created & individualized to meet specific community needs,.  We use contextualised indigenous frameworks, that can support & identify community challenges, that are both complex and similar, to create connections that are strength-based, visible & sustainable, for community-led solutions to create change  & to enrich community wellness & healing.

Why Us?

Maburra is informed by lived experiences that give us a unique reflective lens in development, delivery & implementation of supports, programs & services.  We work within  contextualised frameworks, that are co-designed to meet the specific needs of each individual community.   Maburra  is purposeful in creating change within communities, that support community wellness, wellbeing & holistic healing, which is intrinsically unique when engaging with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities.
